Park Grove Awarded by the Landmark Society of Western New York

From Flour City to Flower City, a lot of change has happened for the mid-sized city of Rochester, New York. Many of the once-booming industrial sites have been left unoccupied or imploded to make room for the new. Park Grove Realty looks to capture some of Rochester’s history with the restoration of the 1255 University Avenue building.

1255 Lofts is now a vibrant community for Rochester residents but it wasn’t always that way. Back in 1909, the building housed the G.W. Todd Company, a fraud prevention group and Wilmot Castle Company, a medical supply sterilizing company and was known as The G.W. Todd-Wilmot Castle Factory.

Today, 1255 Lofts is home to more business than ever before. The University Avenue multipurpose building has welcomed companies like Green Light Networks, Living Roots Wine & Co, Park Avenue Picture Framing, Clerio Vision, AV Science, MeNu, Root Catering, Cable Systems Inc, T-Mobile, Carter B. Rich, Niagara Frontier Orthopaedic Supplies and Metro Salon.

Not only home to commercial companies, 1255 Lofts offers modern one and two bedroom units as well as luxury lofts. Residents enjoy industrial style touches like twelve-foot ceilings, wood floors, exposed pipes, and large windows. All residents have access to the Mews Community Atrium perfect for mingling with neighbors at resident exclusive events.

Park Grove Realty is honored to receive the Landmark Society Award of Merit for their work at 1255 University Avenue in Rochester, New York. This award goes to honorees who sympathetically restore a historic structure in the Western New York region. With the help of the National Register of Historic Places tax credits for income-producing buildings, Park Grove Realty was able to invest $6.5 million toward the building’s rehabilitation.

This Landmark Society award is a great honor for our young company.  We’re extremely pleased with the finished historical rehab of this property. In addition to having an urban winery in the building where people can come for tastings, we’re proud of all the businesses that call 1255 University home and hope that you will find the time to visit.
